What paint color would help minimize mauve pink bathroom tile?
I have mauve pink tile is surrounding a garden tub and the inside of a walk in shower. My bedroom is a soft sage green and the bathroom is currently painted leaf green. There is no door between the bedroom and bathroom. What color would minimize the pink look of the tile and blend with the sage green? I particularly like the colors in the Natural & Comforting collection.
It is a bit difficult to make specific color recommendations without actually seeing your bathroom/bedroom scheme. However, I am approaching this as if those pinky mauve tiles are a close color match to Black Raspberry.
I will make several suggestions and encourage you to create a story board to determine the look that is best for you. You might want to consider deep jewel tones on the walls. The look will be dramatic and take your eyes away from the mauve colored tiles.
In addition, you might want to consider painting stripes or using a faux finish technique, such as rag rolling or color washing, to further enhance the walls.
Option 1:
If you are hoping to create a contemporary scheme, consider contrasting the pinky mauve tiles with a dramatic gray, aqua, green or blue. An absolutely scrumptious combination is Black Raspberry with Lakefront, Coastal Blue and/or Approaching Night from Glidden's Natural & Comforting Collection.
Option 2: For a relaxing a spa look you might try the combination of mauve (Glidden's Black Raspberry) with a gentle
lavender, such as Glidden's Mesmerize and the luscious sea green of Seacliff.
Option 3: For another warm and sumptuous look, combine the warm, mauve tiles with creams, lavenders, honey and a touch of deep crimson or plum. Try these color chips...Black Raspberry combined with Mesmerize, and Boston Cream...next add accents that have touches of deep reds, plums and garnets.
Creating a Style Storyboard:
Step 1: Select a Glidden color chip that is a close match to the pink/mauve bathroom tile.
Step 2: Build a mini "inspiration board" using the color chip to represent
the tile.
Step 3: Add additional color chips beginning with ones that I recommend or others similar in tone.
Step 4: Consider the impact of each appointment...the bathroom rug,
towels, curtains, vanity accessories, etc.
Step 5: Relax and enjoy the process from start to finish!
