Frequently Asked Question
Looking for help with accent colors for my exterior

My house is presently mossy-grey-green with white trim and plumb colored doors. I want to repaint the trim and doors and add shutters using two accent colors: darker green and a dusty red. Its part of a paint color family that I found in a paint company's brochure. What color should I paint the trim around the windows and what color for the shutters? Should the door be reddish with the darker green trim around it? Do I leave a little white to seperate the two colors? Where can I see examples of where the two accent colors are used properly?

Depending on the exact color "mossy/grey/green," an interesting trim color would be Spider's Web in the Natural & Comforting collection from the Glidden color center found at your local Home Depot store.

You can also view Spider's Web in the Color Selector on Glidden.com. Simply open the selector and look under the Natural & Comforting collection for stripe card #44.

Two accent colors you may want to use, also from the Natural & Comforting collection, are Up A Lazy River and City Bistro, which you can use as shutter and door colors.

The door color should be City Bistro with the shutters being Up A Lazy River. All of the trim should be painted Spider's Web for consistency throughout the entire home, whether it be window trim or door trim.

To get a better idea of what these colors will look like on your home, you can purchase our Color@Home II CD at The Home Depot, which allows you to import pictures of your own home and "play" with various color combinations. This will give you a better visual representation of what these new paint colors will look like on your home even before you purchase a gallon of paint.
